What is the Full Moon celebration?
At the time of the full moon each month, thousands of people around the world gather together to honor and give thanks to the cycles of life, just as the seasons change all cultures of the past have in some way celebrated the full moons from the planting moon to the harvest moon. Here at Spirit of the Earth, 'The Living Centre' we invite one and all to join us and participate in our Full Moon Celebration.
These celebrations are important times for reflection, meditation and building community. During each full moon, the moon is blocked by the light of the Sun in such a way that the transmission of the Sun is direct and not disturbed by the moon. Each month our Sun enters into the electromagnetic field and transmits its energy to Earth.
The night of full moon is a time of beauty and magic.
This is why the full moon evenings are called moments of opportunity. This opportunity is a moment of regeneration, a moment in which you can again contact your lost vision or contact a new and greater vision, charge all your being, and set your steps right on the path of evolution and service. At the time of the full moon there is a greater opportunity to release many obstacles and hindrances in one's nature.

Spirit of the Earth, The Living Centre, Education and Retreat Sanctuary is a beautiful 50 acre country setting. A land has been organic since the beginning of time and been cared for with love, this land has held thousands of healing sessions and celebrations. As with the traditions of our ancestors the Full Moon Celebrations take place on the land, or in The Lodge on cooler or rainy nights.
What happens during full moon celebrations?
These celebrations are held in the evening around the exact date of the full moon.
We usually follow the general schedule as mentioned below:
- Words of welcome and a time to get to know each other.
- An inspirational reading or sharing from people in the circle.
- We have a tradition here of making a Full Moon Peace Pledge to ourselves on how to walk more peacefully upon this Earth for the next 28 days.
- In addition we tie Peace ribbons on to a tree that needs healing, a trust that the wind will carry our prayers, to those in need.
- Group drumming, singing of a sacred song or toning facilitated by drumming teacher and guide Cliff Patton. See below for more information.
- Group Meditation and closing words.
